Talking Cards
Materials Needed: 1 Standard Card Deck
How the Trick Appears:
You
riffle the deck of cards and wait until the spectator tells you to
stop. You stop and take away the upper portion of the deck. An audience
member takes the card, memorizes it, then puts it back.
You put the deck back together and riffle the deck next to your ear.
Then the deck "tells" you what their card is.
How the Trick Works:
Tell your audience that you have a special relationship with your deck of cards, and that they tell you secrets.
Take a look at the top card before anyone knows about it. Best way is to look at it while you shuffle the deck.
Hold
the deck in your left hand with your thumb on the right and your other
fingers on the left. Then with your right hand with your thumb on top
then with your four fingers on the bottom. Now with your thumb on top
riffle the deck a little and ask them to tell you when to stop.
When
they say stop pull apart the top portion away while that happens with
your thumb on top of the deck pull the top card down to the lower
portion.
Tell an audience member to pick the card up, memorize it and place it back in the deck.
Put
the deck back together and riffle the deck next to your your ear. Tell
the audience that the cards are whispering in your ear and are going to
tell you the chosen card. Pretend to be listening and receiving the
message from the cards.
Tell the audience the chosen card and confirm it.
Notes:
Practice this trick before performing. It's easy to get confused on how
a card trick works just from reading about it. Having a deck of cards
in your hands as you try and learn the tricks on this page will make it
much easy to learn, understand and then master.
